 CUPE

COMBINED TRADES/MAINTENANCE AND CUSTODIAN POSITION

1.0 FTE (40 hours/week) - Day Shift - 8 hours/day between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Rate of pay ranges from $20.84 per hour to $23.24 per hour - Custodian

$25.01 per hour to $29.01 per hour - Trades without Certificate or

$25.38 per hour to $29.01 per hour - Trades with Certificate

CUSTODIAN RESPONSIBILTLIES

Under the supervision of the Principal or designate, responsible for all caretaking aspects of the facility and grounds.  Implements and follows guidelines within the Caretakers Manual/Plan Assist.  The incumbent may be assigned to system-wide caretaking work where required.

 

CUSTODIAN QUALIFICATIONS

Grade 12 education or equivalent, good communication skills, ability to perform duties of the position.  Knowledge of commercial cleaning products, materials and applications as well as knowledge of cleaning procedures as they relate to public buildings.  Must demonstrate an ability to follow oral and written instructions.

TRADES RESPONSIBILTLIES

Under the supervision of the Principal(s)/Area Supervisor or designate, responsible for all maintenance aspects of the plant, buildings, grounds and related equipment of the school(s).  In partnership with the Principal(s)/Area Supervisor, prioritizes work requests as to need and urgency.  May be assigned to system maintenance work as required by the Area Supervisor(s).

TRADES QUALIFICATIONS                        

Grade 12 education or equivalent, as well as a valid trade certificate (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) or equivalent experience required.  Experience in minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry repairs is necessary.  A valid Class G driver’s license is essential.  Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.  Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
